Writing social media strategy and coaching business, some of the questions I get asked all the time are:
- How can my business really stand out in social media?
- How on earth do I create a unique tone of voice?
- How can my brand personality really come alive on social media?
So, we’ve put this course together to help inform you on what makes a brand personality shine on social media and what can you do, today, that will enable your brand to stand out.
I’ve been working in the sharp end of TV companies and for the last few years been consulting on Sherlock, Downton Abbey and Channel4 shorts to help with social media cut through – grabbing attention and increasing engagement.
We want to share all those practices with you.
You could be a social media manager working in a brand, a campaign manager in a business or an agency or be running your own business.
This, at-you-own pace course, is designed for you to learn and complete your own brand personality creative ideas workbook and create your personal map of how you can tell the story of different brand elements on different social media platforms.
You'll also be invited into the private Facebook Group to ask anything about the course when you enrol.
We’ll look at:
- What does brand personality mean?
- The elements of brand personality and how to build them.
- Great examples on brand personality from many different angles
- What it means for you.
- What the Digital developments are that enable you to show off brand personality.

Hi, I’m Tom
I’m an award-winning senior digital producer and technologist.
As Head of Social Media at The Project Factory, I devised Downton Abbey's social media strategy, executed editorial analytics for Made in Chelsea that formed the basis of a short form series on All 4, and looked after the marketing of the number 1 app, Sherlock The Network.
Whilst at Channel 4 I produced an award-winning short-form series with the disability charity Scope (What Not To Do) and HUK (Helluva Tour), before leaving to become Director of Media at a social media analytics company, where I worked with rights holders, broadcasters and producers to understand the social media conversation and integrate it into their programming in bold, innovative ways, providing editorial social media analytics to clients including Heads Together, Twitter, and Premier League Productions.
In my spare time I care about civic technology and I’ve co-founded Swap My Vote and Forward Democracy, as an incubator for interventions in civic technology and thinking.
I’m a Director of the UK's Open Rights Group, which works to defend digital freedoms, and an organiser of Tech for UK.
I run my own consultancy, Microclimate, and provide live and online training with Transmute and to my own clients including BBC Academy, Viacom and various public bodies and continue to consult on digital strategy to the broadcast industry.
